SAAFCarb™

SAAFCarb enhanced capacity media efficiently removes 99.5% of targeted contaminants from SAAFCarb systems. Target impurities include diesel fumes (nitrogen dioxide), hydrocarbons, chlorine, and volatile organic compounds (VOC). The pelletized activated carbon is composed of non-toxic, bituminous coal substrate. SAAFCarb media removes toxic and impure gases from the environment by adsorption. In this process, the gases accumulate on the surface of the pellet.

  • Pelletized activated carbon media that removes toxic and impure contaminants from the atmosphere
  • Quick and easy media changeovers
  • Resists a wide range of impure gases
  • Low pressure drop and high adsorptive capacity

Description

Quality Control

The 4.0 mm pellet media undergoes several quality control tests before being shipped, revealing low pressure drop and high adsorptive capacity. SAAFCarb media performs at a range of -4° to 125°F (-20° to 51°C) under 10–95% relative humidity (RH). Airflow is effective in commercial and industrial systems, and ranges from less than 25 CFM (42.5 m3/hr) to over 100,000 CFM (169,920 m3/hr) and with velocities from 60 to 500 FPM (1,080 to 9,000 m/hr).

Safety

Wet activated carbon adsorbs atmospheric oxygen, causing low oxygen supply in enclosed areas or packed containers. This can be potentially hazardous for workers who enter these oxygen-depleted areas. Make sure that the workers adhere to the provincial and state safety guidelines.

Packaging Options and Application Guidelines

SAAFCarb media is packaged in one cubic foot containers, and 1,100 lb. (454 kg) super sacks. SAAFCarb media is also available packaged in SAAF cartridges, cassettes, and trays. SAAFCarb media performs under the following application guidelines (actual capacities and efficiencies may vary):

  • Temperature: -4° to 125°F (-20° to 51°C)
  • Humidity: 10% – 95% RH
  • Suitable for use in commercial and industrial systems with equipment face velocities from 50 to 500 FPM (0.25 – 2.5 m/s)

Installation and Disposal Requirements

The installers must use dust masks, safety goggles, and rubber gloves. The spent SAAFCarb media must be disposed of according to local, state, and federal guidelines.
